Tiger Woods PGA Tour - Rookie Tour

I gave in. I traded in my copy of Ridge Racer DS towards Tiger Woods. Though my reasons for the trade need to be explained in a different post, I must admit that I like my video game golf. Unfortunately, getting on a real course is not something I can do that often, so the virtual links still keep me connected to a sport I love.

Tiger Woods on the DS is like many of the early DS games. The game is fun, lacks polish, hints at what could be, and makes me wonder what will be. The first and most important point is that the game is fun and a welcome addition to my “Game Chair Anywhere” collection. What makes it fun?

  • I like golf
  • Decent depth for a mobile golf game. You create a character and play through the “Legends Tour” competing in various events against cpu opponents to earn money to build up your attributes (like other iterations of the Tiger Woods series).
  • Unique swing controls - the game makes good use of the touch screen and I enjoy using the stylus to swing.
  • When playing in the legends tour you can save at any point and resume at the start of the hole you just played, which makes it very mobile friendly.

Overall, my initial impressions are that it is a pretty mediocre game that in many ways is pretty poor, though has a few unique elements and some other unknown power that keeps me playing.
