A Time for Change

I would like to start this post with a “Thank You”. Thank you to all of the passionate writers and contributers that have added to this site. Thank you to all the readers of this site and in particular those whom have added their $.02 in comments. I started TGC as an experiment and project. I wanted to dive into the blogosphere with both feet and thought gaming would be the best topic for me to write about. I thought about wanting to explore the medium in a way that was authentic to what the medium provided. I came up with the progressive review where I wrote about games over time as a I played them. Then I sought out to learn about driving traffic to the site and realized quickly that you need a lot of content and a lot of interesting content. I needed to find others to help provide that and had the wonderful pleasure of meeting many. It is pretty cool to think about the relationships made through this site and experience it has provided me and hopefully others. I wish I could continue pushing it forward as I had imagined to but I feel it is time for a new path.

In the past year plus, I have found myself unable to lead this site due to competing priorities and as a result, I am deciding to reimagine The Game Chair. I’ll be keeping the domain and likely relaunch it in some simpler fashion as a place to still write thoughtfully about games and maybe put some affiliate links for people looking to buy game chairs to help fund this ever expensive hobby (there are more people looking ot buy game chairs than I would have ever thought).

Maybe the site will re-emerge with a new approach as a community blog, maybe just a more open personal blog about games, or maybe I will take my desire to write about games now and then to another community blog. There are so many great ones out there.

Thanks for everything everyone - Seth

Good work everybody! Go out and celebrate a great run with an after-party of scattered proportions. I’d say that the drinks were on me, but I’m just a poor storyteller who has to con his own pints down at the pub. ;)

    The Game Chair is dead.

    Long live the Game Chair!

Seth - sorry to see the current Game Chair go out, but I’ll be looking forward to whatever emerges from its ashes.

    Good luck!

It was a great site and a pleasure to be a part of it. I can’t wait to see it in its new form.

I’m sorry to see the exit of The Game Chair as I’ve known it. It’s been fun to read and was of course invaluable to Flicker when I was foolishly trying to run an e-zine (what was I thinking?)

I’m sure that whatever it becomes going forward it will be something I’ll enjoy.

Sorry to see it’s leaving in it’s current form, since I’ve had some great fun ‘debating with others here, but I can’t wait to see what comes next.

    Maybe user submissions?
